Graduation Requirements
Application for Graduation
You must apply for graduation on-line through CatsWeb, Student Services or in the Advising Center by the end of the first two weeks of classes (August/September for Fall and January/February for Spring) of the semester in which you plan to graduate. If you are graduating in the summer, you must apply within the first two weeks of the first summer session (June). If you are not currently enrolled at Texas State during your last semester, contact the Science Advising Center to make arrangements to complete the application for graduation.
Once you apply for graduation, the College of Science Advising Center staff will review your application and notify you via your Texas State e-mail address of your graduation application status. This may take a few weeks after you apply since we cannot review the applications until after the 12th class day for long semesters and the 4th class day during the summer sessions.
The e-mail will state whether you are on track for graduation or if you are deficient in one or more requirements. If you are deficient in a requirement, your application may be denied until you have resolved the issue. If you do not resolve the issue, you will not be considered an approved candidate for graduation; therefore, your name will not be in the program and you will not receive your diploma.
Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements for Graduation
Unless otherwise indicated on the degree audit, you must make the following GPAs to meet graduation requirements:
Texas State GPA – 2.0
Major GPA – 2.25
Minor GPA – 2.0
All teacher certification programs require a 2.5 GPA in all areas leading toward teacher certification. No grade below a C will apply toward teacher certification programs.

Honors will be calculated using the following GPAs: 3.40-3.59 cum laude; 3.6-3.79 magna cum laude; and 3.80-4.00 suma cum laude.
