Partners in Academic Student Success

What is the PASS program?

If you are a major in the College of Science and on probation, you are required to participate in our “Partners in Academic Student Success” (PASS) program. PASS is a non-punitive program designed to help our students achieve academic success.
PASS provides a community network for probationary students. This community network consists of student and academic services offices collaborating to provide workshops and presentations throughout the semester that address many of the issues and challenges confronting probation students. Presentations include topics on study skills, time management, adjustment and personal challenges, stress management, career decisions, and financial aid among others.
When you are placed in the PASS program you will be paired with an advisor in the College of Science Undergraduate Advising Center. You and the advisor will work together to try an improve your academic performance.

PASS hold on your account

If you are on probation, you have a hold on your account that will prevent you from registering for classes. To have the hold removed, set up an appointment with your assigned advisor. During the appointment, you and your advisors will set up a contract together. The contract is tailored to your needs and may include the following:
  • Attend three pass workshops
  • Write a short paper on why you got on probation and your plan to get off
  • Complete an assessment
  • Attend a professor’s office hours
  • Visit a campus resource
